Radio Times: Pat has a question for Rob, and Clarrie worries about Joe.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Pat relates the grim details of the trip to Elf Land that Henry insisted on and where he wore the elf costume that Ursula made him. But Pat is happy as she shows Jennifer the pictures of the place in Tenerife where they hope to take Henry if they can get Rob to agree to dates. Lilian and Peggy left very early for their visit to Helen and Jack. Kate texts Jennifer asking for more pillowcases and Jennifer leaves before Kate rifles through her linens. Jennifer recommends that Pat call Rob now to ask about the holiday dates.
  • Pat takes her advice and rings Rob right away. He claims that he doesn’t have his diary in front of him. He asks about the elf costume and wants it brought back before Henry gets home from school.
  • The property that Emma has inspected turned out to be very near the railway line and it would also mean a change in schools for Keira. Clarrie thinks it would be best to move back in with Emma’s parents but Emma notes sadly that Ed is not happy there. Clarrie worries because Joe just can’t accept that their tenure is over. Emma offers Clarrie a taste of one of the new Brazilian cakes for the catering firm. The surveyor’s report has come in and the damp is caused by the removal of the tree and the subsidence is temporary. Clarrie is resigned that they must go but Joe will be disappointed.
  • Pat goes over to Rob’s home and brings up the issue of Rob coping alone with Henry. Rob cuts things short and claims that he is fine. Meanwhile, Rob pointedly opens the knife drawer and asks Pat to move so he can empty the dishwasher. Rob refuses permission to take Henry out of the country; he believes they will abduct Henry and never return. Pat is incredulous but Rob says they can take ‘his son’ on holiday but it must be in this country. What about Wales? Pat inquires acerbically. Is that in ‘this’ country?
  • Kate announces that she has taken the spare pillows from Lilian’s room. Kate is also ‘borrowing’ Jennifer’s best dinner dishes and the silver cutlery. Jennifer objects that Kate just bought dishes and cutlery last week. But when Kate saw it in context, she felt it looked too ‘picnicky’. Jennifer gives in as per usual. Alice has turned down the offer for the new job; she wants a higher wage and more holidays and Kate agrees that you must demand what you deserve. Kate asks for the large Persian rug as well. Jennifer is aghast and pushed too far, she refuses.
  • Jennifer and Kate drag the large Persian rug out to the yurt as Pat drives up. Pat is livid as she tells Jennifer that Rob ordered her to drop off the elf costume and then refused to allow them to go to Tenerife. Pat angrily announces Rob is playing games with them and he is clearly enjoying it.
