The wedding draws near, the signs are good.

Radio Times: Kirsty is listening to the birds, and David treats the family.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Alice introduces Kirsty to her wedding transport, 17 hands of mare known as Cranford Crystal and a vintage Borchester haywain. Her journey should be quite memorable. Suddenly Kirsty thinks that she hears something, but no, it’s probably nothing really.
  • Brookfield finds Ruth and David almost with time on their hands. Jill is cooking iced Easter biscuits and the boys are otherwise occupied. David announces that he has a plan, an afternoon holiday treat for the whole family.
  • Tom joins Kirsty and Alice and is told to stay away from the house while the women attend to secret bridal matters. Kirsty hears that “something” again and owns up that she’s getting slightly twitchy about Joe Grundy’s latest weather advice… “when the lark flies high, good weather is nigh”. Helen joins the group and shoos Tom off once and for all. They head back to the house, where after some technical teething troubles, Kirsty is finally dressed and looks wonderful.
  • The Country Show is a great success and enjoyed by all. Ruth admits to David that she is more than happy having Jill stay with them. When they get back to Brookfield, Ruth and David ponder on the day, recent events and just how quickly the years are flying by. They both agree that they need to spend more time together as a family before their children, like Dan, start to mark out their own paths.
  • Tom and Kirsty sit on a fence together and watch the sun go down. Everything is just going so well. Right on cue, Kirsty hears a skylark again, and it’s singing its heart out. They eventually spot it, a tiny dot in the sky. It just couldn’t be any higher.
