There’s another crisis with Ruth’s mum.
Radio Times: A self-doubting Kate receives a pep talk, while Ruth and David get moving.
Characters: Adam, David, Kate, Lilian, Pip, Ruth- The final, final version of Kate’s business plan is getting a rather superficial once-over from Lilian. Having secured her aunt’s approval, Kate will send it to Debbie; after that she must show it to the dreaded Brian. Lilian encourages her to be more confident.
- David has noticed a caravan at Hollowtree. Ruth has a rather “told you so” attitude to the Fairbrothers. Give them an inch and they will take a mile; where will it end? David is confident that it will end after Christmas as agreed but he will keep an eye on them. Ruth realises she has not phoned mum; no matter, Marvin House would ring if there were a problem. She is preparing for tomorrow’s interviews of three prospective contract milkers. Pip has her degree result: she has got a 2-1. David is so proud; they will celebrate tomorrow with dinner at La Femme du Monde. Ooh!
- How Kate managed to entice Lilian into a meditation session is left to the imagination but Adam is a welcome interruption. He’s not the first: Ruairidh apparently found it incredibly amusing. Adam decides to pass; he will find own way to deal with stress. They both encourage Kate to believe in herself.
- Into the peaceful stupor, induced by Jill’s wonderful treacle tart, bursts Ruth: mum has gone missing; they have completely lost her. Of course it would never have happened if she had phoned her earlier. She probably called a taxi, and the staff, thinking she knew what she was doing, did not challenge her. That was an hour ago. David will not allow Ruth to go up to Prudhoe alone, so they will leave Pip to sort everything out on the farm. Go!
