Radio Times: David cannot contain his anger, and Pip is cornered.

  • As David gives way to a massive tantrum, caused by an NFU colleague telling him that Tom had informed the membership that the IBR outbreak had been caused by Brookfield cattle, Pip endeavours to calm him, but succeeds in making matters worse when she mentions the Bridge Farm website’s input into the row. David storms off to give Tom a piece of his mind.
  • At the Vicarage, cooked breakfast awaits Alan. Usha talks to him about his workload, suggesting they take a holiday after Easter, but Alan finds endless reasons why this would not be feasible. Usha wonders if Rob is still on his mind, but Alan denies this.
  • Tony is in good spirits, telling Tom how cheerful Lilian was on the phone, despite Matt’s continuing presence in Ambridge. They discuss Helen’s forthcoming birthday, to be celebrated with a family meal at home, with Kirsty as a guest, but their mood quickly changes when a furious David appears. Tom tries, somewhat lamely, to justify his blog, and Tony stands by him in the hope of defusing the row, but when Tom suggests that David’s mood is due to his guilty conscience, and that no compensation has been forthcoming from Brookfield, David’s fury mounts. We won’t be seeing any compensation now, muses Tony as David storms off.
  • Usha rings Ruth to ask her advice about Alan, but Ruth needs to talk to Pip, who has texted to say that David may be some time. Pip appears on the scene, and ever-indulgent Ruth tells her she should not be blaming herself for the IBR. David reappears, having decided to play Bridge Farm at their own game; he will blog about their E. coli outbreak. Pip is forced to come clean. The cattle did get out and they mixed with both the Bridge Farm and the Home Farm herds. She omitted to mend the fence. The outbreak and the subsequent problems are all her fault. Well, David?…
