Characters: Brian, Jennifer, Kate, Richard, Roy, Shula, Usha
- Usha bumps into Shula and doesn’t suspect a thing. Indeed it slips out that Shula is having lunch with Richard and far from being suspicious, Usha asks her to report back on his state of mind. Shula, though, is distraught at this and neither she nor Richard are particularly enjoying the secrets they’re keeping from Usha, Alistair and the village as a whole. She doesn’t feel up to running away, but Richard is happy to do whatever it takes to be together and make her happy.
- It’s Roy’s day in court and, although Kate is still in shock and a state of disbelief over the whole affair, he’s not apologetic.
- As they exit from court it appears that the judge has sided with Roy, granting the order to test blood to determine paternity and extending the order that prevents Kate and the baby leaving the country. Roy’s anxious to get things sorted, but Kate is absolutely distraught. Roy goes over to them, despite Usha’s strong advice not to, and Brian is not best pleased, but Kate wants to talk to him. He gets his first proper look at the baby and is smitten, but Kate is not turned around by this show of affection and is adamant that she is her baby and, as such, she doesn’t care want the law says, vowing that Roy will never see the baby again, nor come anywhere near her.
