Characters: Betty, Caroline, Hayley, John, Mike, Roy, Sid

• Mike and betty are not on top form – they’re worried because Roy’s still not back and Betty is working long hours in the shop since Sharon has left again. The shock mainly disbelief that he’s not told them anything. He returns from his time away and very quickly the situation is made clear. Mike’s delirious, but Betty’s got mixed feelings, that Roy’s not convinced and that this might be proof that Kate was playing around.
• Sid’s confident that the Bull had a successful Christmas period – although Caroline is less sure.
• Roy’s not too happy with the older generation in general, that Brian told Mike and that his parents are so pleased that he’s “in the clear” – he’s not sure whether he feels happy about it or not. He meets Hayley in the Bull later – they’re very friendly – and it’s a bit awkward when John, who still harbours hopes, comes over to join them, only temporarily as they leave soon afterward.
