  • Caroline and Shula are out riding and Caroline is wondering what she did to Graham, whose hard to get behaviour really has her confused. He might have been intense, but she is missing his attentions! They meet George who passes on the news that Clive’s received 5 years for GBH (although didn’t have to answer the more serious charge of GBH with intent).
  • Kate’s at a loose end, she’s nothing to throw herself into, unlike the rest of the family who are working to distract their attention. Alistair arrives to see a cow and offers a friendly ear.
  • George asks Debbie about the estate plans, he’s a little dismissive of the new beetle banks (“there’s nowt like a good hedge”), he curious as to whether Brian’s considered using “natural” stock for his shoots, rather than raising the birds deliberately. He’s even more curious though, when Debbie mentions that Brian’s after a full-time keeper (news he makes sure gets back to Jack).
  • Alistair tells Shula of his involvement in Graham’s behaviour and suggests they (at which plural Shula most defiantly changes to a singular!) try and do something as a quartet again soon – maybe ten-pin bowling?
  • Kate’s all matey with Roy again, wondering if it might all have been different if she’d tried to talk Hayley round about John. Roy doesn’t agree, but does agree to go round and visit Kate that evening.
