Characters: Bert, Clive, Kate, Lynda, Marjorie, Phil, Sean
- Marjorie’s replacement as scorer is, it seems, not particularly popular, while pointing out the odd seven ball over to Bert or telling Roy that an innings was, while high-scoring, was reckless shouldn’t be too serious, his attitude leaves something to be desired. The team itself though had a good win at the weekend and is in the semi-final of the cup.
- Bert’s not happy with his reassignments, not seeing why he’s been taken away from the cows, especially as David is now exhausted from getting up every morning. He even stands and watches Phil while moaning. He’s also unhappy at Clive’s part in the play, not only does he create an atmosphere amongst her fellow thesps, he’s not actually very good.
- Lynda wants Sean to dream up a raked stage for the play (in return for the drinks concession) and is off to Borchester to be interviewed by the Echo about her insights into the production!
- Kate turns up at the Cat for work and, when told she hasn’t a job any more, tears a strip off Sean who was, reasonably, telling her that taking four weeks off without telling your boss isn’t on. Mid-tirade, Clive walks in and she goes quiet and walks out. He’s surprised to learn who she is, “Blimey. She’s grown up since the last time I clapped eyes on her ….”
