  • Nigel and Lizzie are starting to wish that the play would go away, Lynda’s disturbing their work with questions about fire regulations. She’s off to try and talk to Kate (who is at the by-pass protest) but Nigel and Lizzie warn her that there is a general solidarity amongst the players over this issue.
  • Brian and Phil are discussing the future of the estate and Brian is offering Phil plenty of contract work once their current contract expires at the end of next month. Phil’s pleased, but isn’t sure how David is going to react, as the Brookfield ship has a distinctly weary and testy crew at the present.
  • It’s a busy day at the bypass as Kate recevies deputations. She again has to argue her position with Lynda, who is being slightly more understanding today, but the basic problem remains, there is no way that Kate can work with Clive. She continues this theme with Janet, while admitting that she can forgive and even believe he’s rehabilitated, but there is absolutely no way she can forget. Brian then arrives, trying to convince Kate to come home, and has a brief spat with Janet over her involvement.
  • Lynda is almost admitting defeat that, despite her best efforts, it does seem likely that the production will never see the light of day …
