  • George’s rehabilitation is going slowly, he wants no fuss from Christine, but neither does he seem to want to do anything for himself. DS Blackmore recommends Christine contacrt Victim Support – not an idea that finds favour in a Yorkshire used to dealing with his own problems.
  • Messrs. Coverdale and Blackmore are somewhat at odds over the nature of Eddie’s involvement in George’s beating. While his sergeant isn’t coloured by old memories and feels Clive is involved, James Coverdale is convinced that Clive’s just too convenient a scapegoat and that while he’s a nutter, he was a nutter that was 100 miles away.
  • Eddie’s worried about Ivy and Susan’s support for Clive and is concerned at what might happen. He receives a visit at Grange Farm – Coverdale coming to wind him up a bit, although a shocked Clarrie, who hadn’t realised that he was in charge of the investigation is more wound up. Eddie’s worried that they’ve really got something on him – despite his innocence.
