- Wow, I knew I could rely on the ever wonderful Archers fans! Within a couple of hours of posting my plea for help (having missed both broadcasts myself) I had a great substitute summary! So, many thanks, in the first instance to Steve Riddle for this summary, and the second to everyone else for contributing their recollections!
- Hayley tells John she’s not going to sue him for breach of promise if he doesn’t want to go through with his proposal from Friday. John isn’t ruling things out but romantically suggests they should live together.
- Remembering the flat at Nightingale Farm is empty, Hayley arranges to look around with John. Mrs Antrobus congratulates them on what she assumes is their engagement, so they don’t disillusion her. Hayley is dead keen on the flat but John fears a surfeit of Mrs A’s famous cooking, lack of privacy and anyway it’s too expensive.
- Lynda hears about the peace quilt from Shula, and volunteers to do the centrepiece. Shula explains there isn’t really a centrepiece, just 25 squares, but suggests a dove pattern Mrs Antrobus has, which Lynda agrees might be suitable as a starting point for her creative genius.
- The Grundies have been going around subtly asking if anyone was near Grange Farm on Monday night waving a torch around. Unfortunately William has asked Lynda, who in turn asks all and sundry if they know what is going on. Shula catches on and says it was probably nothing.
- Pat tells a relieved Clarry that John and Hayley were the mysterious torch-bearers on Monday – they had been keeping quiet about it until now.
