Characters: Caroline, David, Graham, John, Mike, Nigel, Pat
- Pat’s concerned ahead of the publication of her Echo article, she’s concerned that it might have a lot of the juicier bits about the pipeline edited out. She and Tony have appointed a land agent though, who is offering ideas of strategies but is not hopeful of overall victory. In the end she need not have worried, the article is a real bombshell, citing a lack of co-operation from their landlord (bearly concealing a charge of vested interests). Graham visits to mention that Brian is not going to be happy to see Borchester Land painted in quite such a negative manner.
- John’s had a phone call from Hayley accepting his invitation for dinner next Tuesday and he’s in a fine mood, but very conscious of keeping the meeting quiet lest she take the publicity the wrong way.
- Graham, under heavy pressure from a knowing Caroline, finally admits that his amazing progress as a horsemanship was down to lessons, but he insists that it was something he’d been meaning to do for a while, not just something to impress her.
- Rumours abound about Nelson – the latest news is that both Ellen and Julia have received postcards, one from Brazil and the other from Singapore! With the news that he’s planning on selling the antiques shop the whole village is asking the same question, what on earth has happened to Nelson?
