Daniel sounds better and is enjoying a present from Graham but screams if picked up. Elizabeth brings the news that the birthday present Shula wanted for Phil needs to be ordered and will take a week; they cannot get it for tomorrow. Shula’s reaction shows the stress she is under; now she cannot even cuddle Daniel.
Usha has a new client; Sammy Whipple feels that he has been unfairly dismissed by Brian and wants to take him to an industrial tribunal. He is particularly worried about his tied cottage.
Against his better judgement, Neil helps Tommy to put Eric the boar into a paddock to get used to the electric fence; Neil thought it could have waited until he gets back on Sunday. Tommy is keen to get to cricket nets but Neil insists on going over his pig-care duties first. In any case, just like everybody else, he will have to wait until the end of the nets session to learn whether Sean has selected him for Saturday.
At nets Alistair reports the change in Daniel’s condition to Richard and assures him that the sister will mention it to the paediatrician. He wonders whether Shula is over-reacting, being so worked up, and making Daniel worse. Perhaps he and Richard together could persuade her to take a break?
