Characters: Chris, David, Lynda, Pat, Ruth, Shula, Tommy
- It’s most definitely the morning after the night before for certain members of the village. Pat is being very sympathetic with a distinctly ill Tommy (apparently Brenda is in similar state), although she is seeing it as a learning process and he’s adopting the normal “I’m never drinking again” mantra. He’s still also feeling low about not getting many GCSEs – not enough to get him to sixth form college.
- Shula and Ruth do the milking and, whilst admitting her original reservations, Ruth is delighted with the way she looked after the cows – and David’s happier for the lie-in too.
- Chris is clearing up the village hall – smashed windows, broken doors, fire extinguishers in the pond. Lynda’s helping lest her newly re-instated rehearsals are homeless, and Chris is not happy with the person who made the booking for the hall – John Archer.
- Pat asks Tommy where the party was and, when she finds out it was at the village hall, decides to go and ask Chris what she thought she was doing allowing that ….
