• Roy’s off to his first day of college, it’s in Felpersham, apparently. He takes the bike, which Kate wants back promptly that evening so she can go to the planning meeting about the bypass.
• Susan’s still not heard about her job and is considering making alternative plans, she has heard about Clive though. It seems that he’s in trouble with his parole officer, despite trying to negate his absence from London with his involvement in “community projects”.
• Sharon and John are shopping in Felpersham, he’s buying Kylie a present. She’s very grateful and kisses him. Roy sees them, although it seems not kissing, just standing very close. He warns John, who isn’t listening to his advice. Later Roy calls on Sharon who isn’t apologetic and tells him to keep his nose out.
• Roy is late to meet Kate, who is furious. Ironically he was held up on the bottleneck to the bypass which Kate is no going to the planning meeting about ….
