Characters: Brian, Graham, Hayley, Kate, Lynda, Roy
- Lynda’s fuming, after several fruitless phone calls to the council to try and find out when the planning committee is to discuss Sawyer’s Farm she finally finds out that Brian and Matt Crawford met with them today! They plan to see the site soon and Lynda promises to be there when they do.
- Roy’s helping Hayley out with John’s books. He’s left them in a surprisingly good state but her bookkeepping is not what it could be.
- Kate’s quit another job, this time from a chip shop, with another use of the pitiful cry “Dad, you don’t know what it was like”. She’s helping out with Jamie tomorrow (against Kathy’s better judgement) but is still adamant that Roy is to have no role in her pregnancy, no matter how friendly they are again.
- Graham mentions to Brian his plans for Caroline’s birthday, that he plans to take her away for a few days – Brian wonders who wouldn’t want to do that ….
- Joe visits Brian and starts his full hard-done-by act, lots of wheezing, coughing, the full “grandchildren’s little eyes staring up at you asking, where’s the money to come from, Grandad” monty. He says that they can pay their rent, but not their bills as well. Unfortunately his ace of Brian being an understanding fellow farmer affected by the dairy price too is trumped by Brian’s stance that he has partner who aren’t farmers and wouldn’t be best pleased. The Grundys in financial trouble again … plus ça change ….
