• The preparations for Josh’s christening (due for Sunday week) are going well until Ruth receives news that her parents, who were due to be leaving for a cruise, didn’t go because Solly (her father) had a crisis at work. Cancellation would mean no refund but the only alternative dates would mean they would miss the christening – and with the preperations so advanced, Ruth and David can’t see any alternative.
• Graham tells Caroline that he knows she has a couple of days holiday around her birthday and he invites her to spend a couple of days with him at an exclusive hotel in the Lake District. She’s initially a little angry that he’s invaded her privacy (and Jack for telling him) by checking up on her holiday, but Shula recomends she go – citing professional curiosity in the hotel if no other reason existed.
• Sid’s drumming up custom for a few forthcoming events and Eddie’s grumbling about it, given his own money worries.
• Alistair takes Shula and Daniel kite-flying on Lakey Hill, as successful a day as the cake-baking last Friday – indeed, the secretive Mother’s Day cake has given the semi-permanently flu-ey Daniel, delusions of chef-dom and he’s been pestering Jill over Josh’s christening cake.
