Characters: Betty, John, Kathy, Mike, Roy, Sid
- Mike, the demise of the market garden leaving him with time on hands, is touting around for odd jobs, Sid can’t help. In a chain of such requests, Kathy’s after Betty to work some more hours in the pub and the shop is after someone to replace Sharon, which Susan seems interested in.
- John and Roy are both smiley happy people today. John’s moaning at Kenton’s poor record of bill payment, Roy’s still down because Kate’s refusing to discuss paternity any more and John says he’s over Hayley – although he’s clearly only saying it – and Roy’s can only go out for a very quick one ‘cos he has two essays to do. The one bright point is John’s suggestion that Roy seek legal advice about the baby issue – which he does, he’s an appointment for Friday.
- Kathy has arranged to teach (unpaid) for a day at Borchester Green school, just to get her eye back in. Sid’s not keen on the idea, but she’s set on it.
