Characters: Bert, Caroline, David, Lizzie, Nigel, Shula
- Nigel and Lizzie’s problem continue with neither giving the ground to come to a compromise. Nigel’s acting very protectively, seemingly expecting Lizzie to try and make contact with Hugh, he’s sitting on the phone and even following her to Nelson’s where she had lunch (and spent time bending Nelson’s ear). Shula, Caroline and David are all trying to help, but little or no progress seems likely, to the extent that Lizzie has threatened to leave if things don’t improve.
- Bert’s finally got around to the idea of the umpiring course, and likes David describing umpires as having to be men of integrity!
- David expresses his concern about Simon to Shula, although she doesn’t admit anything, initially changing the subject to Lizzie’s problems, but eventually she spills the beans and David is shocked, saying that he’s have broken every bone in Simon’s body had he known. She’s made an appointment to see the police and wanted Jill and Phil to know first.
