  • At April Cottage, Hayley thinks that John has been a bit funny over the last few days, which John denies. Tom comes in quite flustered about the fact hat he has received a letter informing him that he has won a share of £200,000 and that he only has 10 days to reply in. John and Hayley calm him down by telling him it is junk mail and that he doesn’t have to do anything. By way of thanks Tom offers to clean Hayleys shoe’s, which he thinks look rather less than perfect.
  • Kate and Lynda are busy sorting out the costumes which Larry has obtained from Felpersham light opera. Kate tells Lynda that things are rather fractious at Home farm following the news that Debbie is taking the PR job with her friend. Lynda takes a phone call from Marjorie obviously about Clive turning up and asking for the velvet cloth as a prop for the play.
  • Whilst putting in a new gatepost Eddie tells Joe that Brian has offered him some contract work at Home farm. Eddie also reminds Joe that he can’t be short of money following his ticket scam with the play. Joe is somewhat perplexed by the fact that Lizzie and Nigel know all their lines, but don’t want anyone to see the play.
  • Tom has been using a spoon and good honest spit to get Hayley’s shoes looking brand new, taking great delight in telling John the exact technique he uses. Tom takes quite a fancy to the pork pie on the table, and manages to get himself invited to tea, to which he tells John and Hayley that he would only be having a bit of soup next door. Tom tells them he is coming to watch the play next week, but would love to see some of the rehersals.
  • Joe, Eddie and Kate make the rehersals but Bert is unable to make it. Joe decides to practice waking up from asllep which sounds reminiscent of a Bull elephant having something precious taken away from him. Lynda is trying to instill in the players the concept of ‘Comic Timing’, saying that laughter ‘Is the timeless wonder drug’. John thinks the quick way to getting a laugh is to drop your trousers, which Lynda quickly passes off. Lynda asks if anyone present can make her laugh, to which Eddie replies by saying he can’t make her laugh but he can make her cry by telling her that the first night is on Wednesday!
