Characters: Chris, David, Jill, Mike, Neil, Roy, Shula
- The news of George spreads round a shocked village, Chris is blaming her absence for why he wasn’t found sooner, thankful to William’s persistence. He’s been badly beaten, he’s had an arm, collarbone and several ribs broken, but has been talking to the police, although was unable to say much, not even remembering that he’d phoned them when he spotted his, presumed, attackers.
- David is struggling to keep his head above water, thankful for a small mercy when a visiting Neil wields a magic hand and shuts Josh up for a while.
- Neil’s decided that his personal position, with Susan’s job future decidedly uncertain, is not conducive to going in with Mike, but tells Mike that Brookfield could be on the market for some part-time work.
- Roy’s still pining for Kate, fearful that she thinks more of Luther at the moment than of him.
- George’s conversation with the police reveals that they’d questioned Eddie that night, the fact he had venison in his van only serves to worry a confused Christine.
