  • The day of the judging for Britain in Bloom has arrived, and Lynda is feeling the strain. Her stress levels are not helped by Joe’s appearance, demanding to know what time tea will be served. The two judges duly arrive, but the female judge, Marcia, seems more taken with Jim’s car than with anything Lynda has to offer.
  • Having Emma and the children to stay is causing Susan problems. She asks Emma to keep Keira under control while the judging takes place, but gets a surly response.
  • Marcia admires the phone box and is bowled over by 8 Glebelands, which has defied Lynda’s colour scheme and come out in a blaze of hot colours. Joe arrives with Bartleby, which annoys Lynda even more. They move on to the Community Orchard, which Joe claims as all his own work. He offers Marcia a glass of cider, and a top-up, which she accepts with alacrity.
  • Keith arrives at Susan’s for a wedding rehearsal with the children. Emma can only moan that Tracy is not helping. Tracy has spent the morning making lamb samosas in her bid to win Ifty’s affections. Unfortunately her father refuses to eat them and rings Susan to ask for proper food. Keith offers to get him a takeaway. At The Bull he confides to Joe that he is worried about being able to meet the cost of the wedding.
  • Jim thinks the day has gone well. Lynda is concerned that Joe’s interference may have reduced their chances, but Jim rather thinks Marcia took to him
