Money – or the lack of it – troubles Emma, though she wouldn’t admit it.
Radio Times: Mike has a moving experience, while Emma feels aggrieved.
Characters: Elizabeth, Emma, Mike, Roy, Ruth, Vicky- Surprise, surprise! Having started early, Mike has finished early and suggests that he and Vicky go to the Craft Fair at Lower Loxley.
- The Fair seems to be going well, though Roy and Elizabeth find the time to talk about Brenda’s trials in running Amside Properties single-handed. Ruth is a welcome visitor, having brought the twins back: Jill has had all her grandchildren for lunch. Mike has spotted something of interest but his attention is diverted by Vicky feeling a bit queer.
- Emma is in a mood; no change there, then! She feels that Ed had a go at her over her cooking, which was not what he would have liked for Sunday lunch, and she feels he did not back her up in front of the kids. The comparison with Clarrie’s ability to conjure up something tasty out of next to nothing does not go down too well either.
- Vicky is better for a sit-down. She is not keen to go home early. Mike is fascinated to experience his unborn daughter’s movements; she is being particularly active this afternoon.
- Elizabeth and Roy exchange views on how business is going. Everything is down. Elizabeth is keen to get a consultant, Duncan Simpson, to look at their operation. It will be Roy’s first job tomorrow.
- Emma has a suggestion for Ruth: a couple of extra hours cleaning work but Ruth does not take up the idea. She sees through Emma’s initiative and offers to pay Emma as normal but no, Emma denies any suggestion that she is worried about money.
