She decides to call on Amy, but then Jim arrives, annoyed that his dramatic performance in the revels was spoilt by audience participation.
- It seems that Amy may not have the benefit of Alice’s company, as Alice meets Tom and Brenda, who have had to endure a full reprise of the Revels from Vicky, complete with Vicky’s screeching laugh. Tom and Brenda intend going to the New Year’s Ball at Lower Loxley, with Kirsty and Ifty; Alice can barely contain her surprise that they should be going to such an upmarket event. She will not be going as she has to work next day.
- Chris poses in a cold forge for photos, and tells Jim of his plans for the business. He remarks that he makes more money than Alice, who spent four years at university.
- At The Bull, Jazzer is rounding up mourners for Bob Pullen’s funeral. Alice will have to work; her wonderful graduate job does not seem to be matching her expectations. They ask Jazzer if he will sing his rude song at the funeral. When Tom discovers that Chris is to feature in Borchester Life, he is furious; Jim told him that he wanted to look beyond Ambridge for subjects. Jazzer is only too pleased to relay this piece of information to Jim when he goes home.
