Brenda tells Vicky her troubles. Ruth tells Alan her troubles.

Radio Times: Ruth tries to get a sense of perspective. Meanwhile, Brenda needs to escape.

• After Brenda’s more than plain speaking, Tom is anxious to make amends. He brings Brenda her breakfast and suggests they watch the film he has recorded. Brenda says she has to go into work, and in any case she has seen the film several times already. A dismayed Tom protests that it is Sunday, but quite apart from wanting to stay out of trouble with Lilian, Brenda seems keen to spend time away from Tom.
• Ruth makes arrangements for her mother to spend Easter with them, but is not pleased to hear that Pip will be spending Easter day at Spencer’s.
• Tom goes after Brenda, but his plans to sort things out are spoilt by the appearance of Ruth, on her way to the Palm Sunday service with Ben. Brenda tells Tom she appreciates his apology, but she will be going to see Vicky and Bethany after work.
• Brenda enjoys time with Bethany, and offers to come over more, so that Vicky can get some rest. Realising that Brenda has things on her mind, Vicky draws her out. Brenda explains that she finds Tom’s obsession with his business difficult, and that Lilian is treating her badly. Vicky asks what her next step up the career ladder will be. Brenda has no idea. Vicky suggests that she might join Tom in the pork business, but that particular idea seems to have little appeal for Brenda.
• Ruth chats with Alan after the service, and learns that Amy has moved out to a flat-share. Ruth tells him that she is finding Pip difficult; Alan advises being firm but gentle. Ruth tells him it is not that easy.
