Caroline is furious when she gets home and Lynda blames herself.

Radio Times: Ian is the voice of reason, and Caroline doesn’t feel relaxed for long.

Characters: Caroline, Clarrie, Eddie, Ian, Joe, Lynda, Oliver

• Oliver and Caroline are back from their holiday. They had a great time and are very relaxed.
• Joe is being discharged from hospital with a cast and is making a fuss. Clarrie tells him that he’ll be fine. Her wrist got better quickly. Privately, Eddie and Clarrie admit he looks awful and it seems as if the stuffing has been knocked out of him. Eddie claims it wasn’t an accident and he is going to take this up with Grey Gables.
• Lynda is worrying if she should have done more to protect Joe. It might have been the carpet. Ian does point out that Joe was as drunk as a lord and it wouldn’t have been an issue if he’d been sober. But Eddie turns up and starts blaming her. Caroline arrives to hear him claiming he is suing Grey Gables for every penny.
• Caroline is absolutely furious. There they were, sipping drinks on the piazza and all the time Joe was in hospital. She blames Oliver totally for hiring Ray and for him not telling her that Ray had left. Ian finds Lynda in floods of tears blaming herself.
• Joe is still in a state when he gets home and Eddie tells Clarrie they are going to sue. Clarrie tries to talk him out of it but he says that Joe may never be the same again.
