The play is a hit. James and Leonie are reconciled. Rob and Helen might be too.

Radio Times: Rob finally phones, and Leonie comes to a decision.

Characters: Helen, James, Kirsty, Leonie, Lynda, Tom

• The news that her leading players are engaged delights Lynda, though they haven’t fixed the date yet. They are trimming cabbages together – how romantic is that!
• Leonie has not ventured out all day for fear of another encounter with James; Lynda finds her taking the nocturnal air. She doesn’t plan to attend the opening night of the play but that’s not going to be enough because James turns up unannounced; Lynda, who thinks it’s high time they talked, leaves them to it. What he has to say is that, though he is not a natural at fatherhood, whatever she decides he will be right there with her; together they can do it.
• The Village Hall is jammed full. This is it – music, Patrick. While the show is on, Helen slips out and takes a call from Rob; he wants to meet her on The Green when it is finished. Inside, Lynda is so proud of Tom and Kirsty – five curtain calls. Leonie and James were both in the audience; now they have talked they are reconciled and they are going to have the baby. Robert is already in the pub but he will be the next to know.
• Rob has been very busy and felt they needed space; hence he hasn’t been in touch. It’s all over with Jess and him. It has been for a while but he hadn’t faced up to it; he is going to divorce her. She doesn’t know about Helen. What now? That depends on Helen. Ever since they met, Helen is the only one he has wanted. He is sorry for the way he has behaved. For Helen it’s not as simple as that, after all he has said and done, but he pleads for another chance.
