Rob is hiding something and Helen knows it.

Radio Times: Charlie has plans for Adam, and Pat reaches out.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Where does Adam stand on the new road proposal? David wants to know in advance of tomorrow’s committee meeting. Well, he’s not for it but if David was expecting wholehearted opposition to the plan then he is disappointed. Adam reports that Charlie has engaged a PR person to promote Open Farm Sunday at Berrow Farm.
  • Hoping to catch Helen, Pat makes an early visit to Blossom Hill Cottage – but not early enough. She has a pleasant chat with Rob, is suitably impressed with the homeliness of the cottage and is recruited by Rob to deliver some papers to Helen. Since Helen is so hard pressed, Pat offers to look after Henry. They tentatively agree on Friday evening.
  • Charlie has summoned Adam to meet him at Berrow Farm, Rob’s office being empty for the day. He wants to confirm that, with Adam concentrating on strawberries, the estate is not going to be short-handed. He also commends to Adam the forthcoming Cereals Event and suggests that they go together.
  • Pat duly delivers the extra yogurts to Helen at the shop, though it seems this was not strictly necessary. She also reveals her visit to the cottage, her good impression of it and the arrangement for Friday. She assures Helen that she and Tony do respect her choice of partner and want her to be happy. When she has gone, Helen immediately phones Rob’s mobile and then his office, where a rather scathing Charlie takes the call. After he has finished his rant about personal matters intruding into work hours, Adam explains that Helen is his cousin, his favourite cousin.
  • Back home in the evening, Helen’s enquiry about Rob’s day is answered with a lie; she knows it is a lie but does not challenge it – at least, not now.
