Rob produces an engagement ring.
Radio Times: Dan comes home and Pat builds bridges.
Characters: Alistair, Dan, Helen, Pat, Rob, Shula- At The Stables preparations are in hand for Dan’s return, though Alistair will not be there, being unwilling to change long-standing plans. When he arrives, Dan admits to being shattered, though he is enjoying it. He is up for the single wicket competition this weekend. He went on a moving visit to Brookwood cemetery and has made his will. Next comes Exercise Long Reach. Shula thinks he is turning into a man before her eyes.
- At Bridge Farm preparations are in hand for Henry’s visit. Tony is playing football with him and notes the improvement – all down to Rob it seems. Helen is planning to cook something special for Rob who has been working hard. Pat points out that Helen herself has been working hard but it is the wrong thing to say.
- By the time Alistair returns, Dan has gone to bed. Alistair feels it necessary to apologise to Shula about not being there earlier.
- Rob judges Helen’s meal to be stunning and promises a lie in tomorrow, although he may have to do a bit of work. Helen gently probes about his whereabouts on Wednesday but gets nowhere. Then Rob produces an engagement ring, made by a mate in Birmingham; he collected it on Wednesday. Now they are properly engaged (though he is not properly divorced yet!). He wants everything to be perfect for Helen. Oh Rob!
