Radio Times: Pat and Tony look to the future, and Peggy is feeling low.
Characters: Helen, Jennifer, Jill, Pat, Peggy, Tony- Spotting another chance to show off her ring, Helen calls on her gran as she cuts flowers in the garden. Peggy is impressed with Rob’s taste. Before she goes, Peggy asks if anyone has heard from Tom. Nobody has.
- Tony is weighing up the options for the ex-pig land. Pat doesn’t want to take a hasty decision. Tony wants to work out what is best for the farm. They have to decide soon what to do about the next batch of weaners due from Neil.
- Jennifer admires her mum’s roses; that’s just the shade she wants for her kitchen tiles. There is also a problem with the granite; that’s at least another fortnight’s delay. Jennifer tells the tale of Lilian’s grandmother envy and knitting exploits and Peggy wonders why Lilian didn’t talk to her about it.
- Helen is reluctant to fill Kirsty’s post, in case she comes back, though that doesn’t seem likely. Pat still can’t believe that Tom gave up his brand name. Helen thinks that her gran is missing Tom. The truth is they would all like news from him. When Helen has gone, her parents remark how happy she is, showing off her ring to everyone. Tony has arranged to go and see Neil tomorrow to seek his advice about the pigs.
- Jill has called for tea with Peggy and the conversation inevitably turns to the proposed new road. Peggy is sceptical that anything can be done. Jill decides to see Justin Elliott and her first step is to talk to Charlie Thomas. She intends to be very persuasive.
