At Lower Loxley, is there any chance that Pandora’s Box will stay closed; Brookfield… a non-dairy farm?

Radio Times: Roy and Elizabeth are on a high, and Charlie refuses to give up.

Characters: Charlie, David, Elizabeth, Roy, Ruth, Shula

• At Brookfield, David and Ruth are faced with a tricky calving. But nothing can spoil her news from Shula that planning permission for the Borchester Land digester has been refused. Route B is still on the cards though, but the planning news is very welcome.
• Elizabeth and Roy are woken by an alarm on his mobile phone. He admits to being in love with Elizabeth and to his surprise she admits to feeling the same about him. They leave further serious conversation until later.
• Shula calls in to Brookfield, on her way to Lower Loxley, to confirm that planning was refused on the grounds of insufficient access. As Shula leaves, David receives a call from Charlie Thomas inviting himself for a chat later in the day. When she arrives at Lower Loxley, Shula spots Roy still working and mentions how tired he looks to Elizabeth. They both agree that as they get older, the years are beginning to fly by.
• Charlie suggest to David and Ruth, that should route B get the go ahead, it may be worth Brookfield leaving dairy farming and instead growing crops for the AD’s, with the backing of a firm contract with Borchester Land. His use of the plural in terms of AD’s is noted by David and Ruth who refuse to have any such thoughts. Charlie is quite certain that planning permission will ultimately be forthcoming and that they shouldn’t turn the offer down out of hand.
• Roy finds it difficult to speak to Elizabeth on a business footing; he is so much in love. Elizabeth suggests the sanctuary of a stable. Once inside, he is distraught when she suggests ending their relationship. In the real world, could Roy consider walking away from Haley and his children, and would Elizabeth want a relationship with a man that would? She insists that simply walking away is the best option… she suggests one last parting embrace.
