Radio Times: Emma gets round Will, and Lynda gets a shock.

  • Lynda is surprised to learn of mutterings amongst the Blithe Spirit cast; that’s why Alice offers her services as Assistant Director. They need to cast the leading man and they need to replace Helen. Alice has inside information that arch-rival FLOS’s production is not going well; she has arranged to meet their leading man, Douglas Herrington – casually – tomorrow, because he is threatening to walk out. Lynda grudgingly approves but insists on having a veto.
  • Rob is still turning up to help on the farm so, over the veg boxes, Tom broaches the subject of the feed order. The cattle are grass-fed, so those feed potatoes will not be used. Rob confesses another decision: he has sold six of the cows and arranged to buy six Simmentals. Tom concedes that Rob had the best of intentions but it was not his call; no histrionics, the new, mature, post-Canada Tom will simply be cancelling the order.
  • Emma has sought out Will in the woods to talk about No. 1 The Green. He scoffs that they couldn’t afford it but Emma convinces him that a short term let to her and Ed is better than no let at all. His brother is a local hero and his parents have encouraged her to approach him. It would be so lovely for George to have their own home again, if Will could see his way to lower the rent a bit. William is surprised that Ed doesn’t know about the request. He acknowledges that she is a clever woman and he gives in.
  • Scarcely back from Prudhoe, Ruth encounters Lynda who expresses her sadness about them leaving. She imparts the result of the traffic survey and the next move SAVE is planning. Lynda is disgusted about the ‘ridiculous rumour’ that they are selling to Damara Capital. Ruth confirms it. Oh no – Ruth, what have you done?
