Carol offers advice and Elizabeth takes it. Charlie offers advice and Adam takes it. Brian offers advice and Jenny rejects it.

Radio Times: Jennifer is determined, and Adam is beleaguered.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Jennifer brings coffee to the lambing shed and gushes over the twin lambs. She wants Adam to take Kate to the ball at Lower Loxley. Adam was planning a quiet night in with a whisky bottle, but somewhat reluctantly agrees to the idea. Brian then arrives, demanding that Adam go to fetch some drench, and gets a flat and churlish refusal as Adam stalks off to the polytunnels.
  • Jennifer is deep in her exchanges with Liam at the Echo, and is less than pleased when he informs her that he needs to check her sources before running her piece on the dastardly dealings of Justin Elliott. Brian urges her to let the whole thing drop, but Jenny is having none of it. If certain family members want to jump ship, she will campaign with SAVE to the bitter end.
  • Adam has a surprise helper at the tunnels; Charlie, surfeited on mince pies with his family lends a hand, but is evasive about what he actually did over Christmas. He buys Adam lunch at The Bull, and expresses interest in the soft fruit enterprise. He is going to the Oxford conference, where soft fruit will be on the agenda. Is Adam going? Apparently not, and he rejects Charlie’s suggestion of investing in the Home Farm fruit enterprise, should they consider expansion. Charlie suggests that Adam should stand up to Brian more.
  • Carol brings Elizabeth one of her herbal pick-me-ups, and encourages Elizabeth to talk about her feelings. 2014 has been an awful year, says Elizabeth, and this time of the year is particularly hard. Carol offers sage advice, and asks Elizabeth to come to Brookfield for New Year’s Eve. She will even pick her up.
  • Brian asks Adam to meet the agronomist next week, to talk about fertilisers. Sorry, says Adam, I won’t be here. Ian and I are off to Miami for two weeks. Brian is furious, but it seems that Adam has taken Charlie’s words to heart. The holiday was a last minute decision. Sorry.
