The move to Northumbria begins to look very expensive; has media support for SAVE stalled?

Radio Times: There is a problem at Hadley Haugh, and Pip helps everyone get organised.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • David and Pip discuss the move to Northumberland. David mentions a problem raised by his solicitor regarding a stream pollution incident there two years ago. They will need much larger waste water storage facilities… yet more expense! Pip raises the subject of robotic milking again. David is uncertain, but Pip has arranged something to put his mind at rest.
  • Bert shares with Carol, his concerns about his tenancy at The Bungalow. She is sure that his worries about Justin Elliot as a future landlord are unfounded. Jennifer turns up seeking Harry McShane’s number, the deputy editor at the Westbury Courier. She just has to generate more press interest in the shadowy plans for industrial development around Ambridge. Local news outlets don’t seem to be sufficiently wedded to the SAVE cause, especially without solid evidence.
  • Pip tells David and Ruth of her plans for them all to visit two robotic milking units. She has made all the arrangements to cover work on the farm while they are away. She is quite insistent that robotics is the way to go.
  • While searching for Harry’s number, Carol admires Kate’s wish to return to university study. Jenny rather preens herself, not in the least expecting Carol’s next musings. Perhaps Jennifer should be rather circumspect in her comments about other people’s marriages (Carol’s in particular) when her own has had a rather colourful past. Beautifully done Carol.
  • David discovers a red eyed Ruth, who has been thinking back to what might have been last year, before they lost the baby. She is also getting concerned about just how much cash they will need to spend in the move north. David reckons that new slurry storage alone will cost some £100k. It suddenly begins to look much more daunting than before.
