David is pressganged into agreeing to robotic milkers for the new farm.

Radio Times: Kate is high maintenance, and David makes a decision.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Kate is still trying to drag Phoebe into activities but Phoebe insists she has work to do. Kate whines that she is getting bored and still hasn’t heard from the University about her course.
  • Jennifer tells Jill she is carless again. When Phoebe insisted on taking the car keys away, the car ended up with a parking ticket. The SAVE photo with the plough has come out well but who knows if the Borchester Echo will publish it this time.
  • When Kate finally gets back she has a letter saying she has been accepted at University and texts Phoebe hoping she will change her mind about going out. She also comments on how down at heel Ambridge Organics looks. When Jennifer suggests Kate helps with the SAVE campaign, she decides she needs to meditate.
  • After David and Ruth’s visit to the next robotic farm, Ruth is impressed as long as the cows are outside. But David is less impressed. You’d need miles more trackways to make it work and the electricity bills are massive. He doesn’t think they can justify the extra cost. Ruth and Pip think they can afford it for a state of the art farm. When they get home, the solicitor has been in touch to say that the seller’s solicitor has agreed a reduction of £70k. Ruth is pleased but David is getting scared about the cost and he is wondering if they are going ahead. Pip and Ruth insist they can’t back out and so David agrees they will invest in the robotic milkers.
  • Nolly appears not to be in touch – either with Kate or Phoebe though Phoebe seems a bit more hesitant. Kate insists Phoebe watches some comedy programme but Phoebe equally insists on only one episode.
  • Jill is continuing to sort out stuff in the Brookfield loft and Pip tells her how brilliant the robotic milker was. Jill thinks the pace of change is rather alarming.
