Lynda and David argue over the village; Kate’s insensitivity causes issues for Phoebe and Roy.
Radio Times: Lynda tells David what she thinks. Meanwhile, it is all a bit embarrassing at the Bull.
Characters: David, Jill, Kate, Lynda, Phoebe, Roy, Tom- Lynda is collecting for the jumble sale. She is shocked about the state of Roy’s home. He notes that most of the things are Hayley’s or Phoebe’s and he can’t give away anything without their permission. Tom saves Roy’s sensitivities by ringing to confirm a meeting in The Bull.
- Jill has asked Bert to take Carol to the Valentine’s dance because he is the perfect gentleman (Freda must work that evening) and Carol is dying to dance. Jill reminds David that he needs to sort through the boxes from the attic. David avoids the duty.
- Kate notes that she ‘travels light’ and has nothing to contribute to the jumble. Kate tries to force Phoebe to come to the pub to meet the uni friends. Phoebe pleads work but Kate begs.
- At The Bull, Tom suggests that Roy try some indoor cricket practice. Roy won’t promise but he admits he has had a terrible winter. Tom understands and urges Roy to attend Burns night for some relaxation and fun. Kate appears and begins bellowing for service, embarrassing Phoebe. Phoebe notices that Roy is in The Bull and wants to move to another room. Kate criticizes Roy loudly, insulting Tom as well, and seems to have had too much to drink.
- Lynda comes to collect the unwanted toys from Brookfield Farm. David is curt and Lynda retaliates about David abandoning (and destroying) the village. Jill interrupts the confrontation and David announces he wants nothing from the past. Send it all to the jumble sale.
- Roy is angry about Kate’s behaviour but Tom points out that Phoebe is leaving because she is embarrassed about Kate’s actions, not Roy’s presence. Tom manages to stop Roy from arguing with Kate in public, but Roy leaves the pub abruptly.
