Lynda is thrilled that David isn’t leaving and is organising a public meeting to get to the bottom of the floods.
Radio Times: It is time for the village to stand together, and David puts his worries aside.
Characters: Alan, David, Lynda, Pip- David tried to see Kenton again but he refuses to see him. David admits to Pip that he made a bad call and should have let him know as soon as the decision was made. Pip suggests Shula might be able to talk him round because she was okay about it. David says that’s because she hadn’t spent thousands of pounds on a stupidly expensive holiday. The land looks as if it’s drying out a bit but there is a long way to go. David says Eddie will be pleased to keep his work though Pip points out it won’t be forever. At some point she will be back full time.
- Lynda is still trying to sort out Ambridge Hall. Alan offers to help a little. Her heart just sinks whenever she visits the Hall and all of that is nothing compared to losing Scruff. Robert thinks they should get another dog but Lynda doesn’t think she would have the time. Alan tries to tell her she is strong and that she needs to stay positive. Lynda says people are being so kind. Even Kate offered to help but she wasn’t much practical use. Just whining about Mothering Sunday. Lynda says she seems still to be yearning for something she hasn’t yet found. Lynda is surprised to hear that there were questions about cancelling the Sing-along Messiah. She thinks everything possible should be going ahead to keep the community together. And maybe they could have a voluntary collection for the Flood Relief Fund. Lynda says she and Jennifer are going to call a public meeting to discuss the flood response. They need to pull together as a village.
- David has found a freezer for the temporary shop at Bridge Farm. Alan turns up to visit Brookfield to suggest using a barn for a village meal. David says he’d be happy to host it and would contribute some Hereford beef.
- David goes to visit Lynda. Initially he gets a frosty response, particularly when he offers to help with the village relief. But when he tells her they aren’t leaving she is thrilled, particularly that Justin won’t get his hands on Brookfield. Once she is convinced she says they must find out why the flood happened to stop it happening again. They need the media along and local councillors. She is determined to get some answers.
