• Ian wants Helen to be at the wedding, Rob too but after making some remarks that we hope Henry didn’t hear, Rob says he won’t go. He doesn’t think he can be that hypocritical. (Really?)
• It’s a long shot but Clarrie would like Peggy to ask Hazel to change her mind about evicting them from Keeper’s Cottage. No time like the present but Hazel tells her it’s not convenient now; if it’s important Peggy could ring her back at 3:30. That’s typically rude for Hazel.
• Pat is full of praise for Rob’s judgement over halogen lights and he has found a way to make Tony’s tables blend in. Today’s Echo carries the advert for the farm shop opening. Helen suddenly realises that she is late for collecting Henry and dashes off.
• The Grundys’ house hunting is not going well. Clarrie doesn’t like any of the ones they have seen. How are they going to cope? Numerous posters for “Feathers will fly” are an added irritant. Clarrie even suggests putting Joe into a home but Eddie is dead against it.
• Helen has had an accident on the way to school – her fault, it seems; she asks Pat not to tell Rob but he is already within earshot, so he and Pat rescue her. Between them they cook up a scheme to wrap Helen in cotton wool until the baby is born. No more driving.
• Compassion is not in Hazel’s dictionary. She will not be turned: she has spent a lot of money on the cottage and is bent on getting a good return for it. She is not about to change her plans for the feckless Grundys. Peggy asks how she can be so cruel. (It comes naturally.)
