Tom and Johnny move into 1 The Green. Alice’s bubble is burst following her presentation: style over substance.
Radio Times: Alice hopes to impress, and Tom’s reminded of old memories.
Characters: Adam, Alice, Brian, Jennifer, Johnny, Pat, Tom- Jennifer and Adam bemoan the situation with Ian, as Adam has not been able to make contact. According to Helen, Ian’s friends are doing a good job of lending support, advice and distraction and Ian is even searching for new jobs. Jennifer cautions Adam against pessimism. Ian is unlikely to move too far afield, especially as he and Helen have only just mended their rift. On the other hand, she warns Adam not to push Ian too far too soon regarding his future plans, or he may back off altogether. Alice, however, tells Adam not to leave it too long before getting in touch with Ian.
- Pat, Johnny and Tom have agreed the new living arrangements, although it is all happening a little too quick for Pat’s liking. Helen’s confidence is growing since standing up to Ursula and she feels able to go out and about publicly more than she has been doing.
- Alice has a presentation to deliver to a group of arable farmers and is praised by Jennifer, Adam – and Brian, until he takes a closer look. Impressed by the initial appearance, he worries there is not much substance. Offended, Alice goes off to tweak it and Jennifer berates Brian for his lack of sensitivity and knocking her confidence and also tells him not to be so harsh on Tom at the mock interview, as Brian is taking the role very seriously. Later Alice meets Adam at The Bull to feedback on her presentation which has not been well received. Adam encourages her to learn from the experience and then she will do better next time.
- Tom and Johnny move in to number 1 The Green and unpack. Johnny notices Tom is subdued and Tom lays his cards on the table about his shared histories in this home, with Kirsty and Brenda before her. Johnny is determined to help Tom create new memories and good times, starting tonight with a takeaway and a relaxing evening prior to his mock interview tomorrow.
