  • Johnny announces the Nuffield mock interview plan to a flabbergasted Tom, who is clearly touched by Johnny’s support. Johnny is not revealing the interview panellists though. In return, Johnny asks a favour of Tom: to try to convince Pat that his flying the nest is sensible for all. However, Tom has an idea of his own. He wants to ask Will if he may take back over the tenancy of number 1, The Green. Johnny overhears Tom and Pat discussing it and offers himself as Tom’s housemate at The Green. An opportunity for two single guys to have fun!
  • As Rob and Ursula discuss Rob’s hospital admission for the stoma reversal tomorrow, Rob’s overriding concern is missing his contact time with his son. Ursula rings Pat to request a change of supervised contact, to today, instead. After all, it is due to Pat’s daughter that Rob will be in hospital. Under the Court’s terms, Helen is not obliged to make alternative arrangements if Rob cannot meet the agreed time, but Helen reminds Pat that Anna has stated it may be wise to be amenable and she goes away to have a think.
  • Rob can barely take the suspense of waiting for Helen to make her decision. While Helen has time to think, she takes into account the effect of Rob’s past and present bullying, not just on herself, but on her Mum and Dad. Her decision is made and she will not bow down to him – or Ursula. Pat rings Ursula to deliver Helen’s decision that contact arrangements stand this week as outlined by the Court. During the call, Helen takes the bull by the horns, takes the phone from Pat and speaks to Ursula herself. It’s a first step towards not allowing the Titchener family to have power over her family any longer. Pat comments to Tom, how she is beginning to see the ‘old’ Helen return. Tom reminds Pat not to rush Helen over her decision to make a formal complaint against Rob about the rape. It must come from her, in her own time.
