Justin and Brian reveal plans for an intensive pig farm at Berrow.

Radio Times: Justin sets out his stall

• Lilian and Justin discuss various local happenings, including Hilda Ogden who is still leaving marks to show what she thinks of most visitors. Lilian notes that Josh has finished his cultivator and put it up online. Lilian wants to know if Justin has decided on a use for Berrow.
• Jennifer turns over the speed gun to Lynda. Lynda is flying out to Florence for her birthday. Lynda regrets that she will miss her supervision of the Speed Check crew. The mystery is solved of Derek Fletcher repeatedly circling while Jennifer and Lilian were on duty. Lynda had asked him to check on the volunteers but she admits Derek does tend to be too zealous in his duties. Perhaps Jennifer would become temporary leader while Lynda is in Italy? Jennifer tries to dodge the request but Lynda flatters her abilities until Jennifer reluctantly agrees.
• Justin tells Brian that he was in Bellweather on Thursday. Justin is considering intensive pig-farming for Berrow. Brian is enthusiastic; the infrastructure is already there along with roads. Justin cautions they must look at the numbers and think of a way to overcome local objections.
• Neil and Lynda are on speed duty when a speeder goes through. Lynda forgets the number before they can write it down. Lynda tells Neil about a ‘special’ place with frescos by Andrea del Sarto that she is looking forward to visiting. Since Jennifer has just told Lynda about these frescoes, let’s raise eyebrows at Lynda’s inside knowledge of Florentine art.
• Brian and Justin continue to discuss the intensive pig farm idea. Planning shouldn’t be an issue. Jennifer pops up and asks what they are talking about. Jenny is shocked at the idea of 15,000 pigs but Brian protests that opposition will blow over. Unlike the smell, smirks Jennifer. Justin claims the latest technology will prevent offensive odours and Brian says you won’t even be able to see it from the village. Jennifer complains that everyone will be confronting her about the pig farm. Jennifer’s other news is that Brian will oversee the Speed Watch. Does Lynda know about this transfer of power?
• Justin tells Lilian that he has selected two applicants for the PA position to come in for interviews. Justin explains the pig operation plans for Berrow to Lilian. She seems to approve. Justin believes that Lilian has inspired Justin to go forward with many big plans for Ambridge. The intensive pig farming is just the start.
