Characters: George, Kathy, Lynda, Marjorie, Pat, Sid, Tom
- Tom’s happy at The Laurels, very pleased to be with Pru 24 hours a day. George is feeling well enough to drive him to The Bull, where his songs kick of Wassailing. Sid’s very pleased to host the event – the place is jammed.
- George doesn’t feel up to being Santa at tomorrow’s Fayre – maybe Bert should step into his beard? When Lynda puts it in this way to Bert (unofficially, Marjorie doesn’t get a chance to ask him properly) he doesn’t seem so keen to help out.
- Kathy’s still not convinced of the merits of slaving over Christmas dinners rather than spending time with her infant son.
- Lynda poo-poos the static Wassailing, reminding people of the its traditional peripatetic nature, where it would stop at houses for free drinks. Consequently The Bull quickly empties and, when Lynda returns welcoming the quiet, Sid is fuming, blaming her and barely managing to keep a lid on his ire – especially as all the Wassailers have ended up at the Cat!
