Characters: Bert, Brian, David, Hayley, Jennifer, Kate, Roy
- Jennifer’s mothering Kate, who gracefully declines rather than snapping at the attention. Hayley drops by and Kate drops her bombshell and is pleased, because Hayley is the first person to react positively, even enviously, to the news.
- David disturbs Bert preparing for the next quiz with, amongst some reference materials, a newspaper whose questions bear a striking similarity to those Sid uses. Bert sees this as research – he still has to remember the answers! – but straight-laced David is shocked!
- Hayley mentions Kate to Roy and mentioning how happy he must be, it’s obvious that he knows nothing about it but she doesn’t twig that he didn’t know. When the penny drops she’s mortified – but Roy is the more shocked.
- Brian and Jennifer are discussing Kate and it’s obvious the, while he’s coming around to the idea, he’s still far from happy with Kate’s handling of it.
- Roy visits Kate and, after berating her for not telling him and demanding that his rights be recognised, is told, to his shock, that he has no rights and that the baby is her problem as he is not the father ….
