Characters: Hayley, Lynda, Neil, Susan, Tommy, Tony
- Breakfast time at the Carters finds Neil spinning a yarn about his job, rather than tell Susan the truth; a change of area means early starts and money will be tight for a while. Susan has heard that he asked the Archers for work, so the story fits – just.
- Hayley and Tommy cannot understand why Neil wanted to meet them at the Business Units car park. When he arrives they think he is over-dressed for collecting a Duroc boar – but he has overalls to slip over his suit. Hayley is apprehensive that she will have to drive the Land Rover all the way home, because Tony could not come and Neil has business to attend to afterwards.
- Tony has had notification about the construction of the pipeline which is due to start in four weeks. He was hoping to enlist Lynda’s help to continue the fight but Lynda sees it as a separate issue from the Sawyer’s Farm development and something of a lost cause.
- Eric (that’s the boar) overcomes his reluctance to enter the trailer when Hayley threatens withdrawal of his lunch. He is a good looking animal and, if he is not travel sick, she should get him back without any trouble.
- Susan is surprised when Hayley calls with a message for Neil: Eric is safe at Willow Farm awaiting his familiarisation with the electric fence. She thought Neil was busy all day. Why didn’t he tell her about collecting the boar? Then there was that phone message earlier, about the meeting he had last week, requesting his CV. His story is wearing thin.
