• Susan’s worried about her future and asks Richard to clarify some of the rumours, at which point he admits that he is packing up and leaving as soon as a locum can be found. She’s concerned, but he’s sure that the new doctor, when appointed, will want to keep on the old staff.
• Tommy’s avoiding Pat ahead of the new term starting on Wednesday – and he still doesn’t plan on returning to college. Helen and Tony seem to be divided when they discuss it, Tony wants him to be happy while Helen is paying the pro-academic card. She suggests that bribing him with a second hand car (it’s his test on Thursday) might work …. and she’d be able to drive it too!
• While they’re discussing the continued dire state of the cricket team, Richard tells Roy, Hayley and Bert (and then others) the news that they’ve all been expecting – that the rumours are true and that he’s leaving the village.
• Roy’s heard, via a phone call to his mother from Jennifer, that Kate’s left for a few days. Hayley’s sure that this is sign of her denial, but with the results to the blood test due in tomorrow’s post, Roy’s increasingly nervous. As he points out, the emotions he felt when holding Baby aren’t proof and maybe Kate’s right ….
