• They’re picking carrots at Bridge Farm and Tommy’s getting teased by some of the casual workers – one called Beryl in particular – his parents suggest giving back as good as he’s getting, Pat pointing out that he’s growing into a handsome young man and maybe some of them fancy him!
• Lizzie’s getting increasingly frustrated with Julia’s behaving and, eventually, Nigel confronts her as to what the problem is and why is she receiving post from Spain which she routinely doesn’t open. He demands an explanation, despite his mother being defiantly defensive.
• Alistair gives Shula a present, for the both of them – a holiday on St Kitts in the Carribean, flying on Boxing Day. He suggests that they could use it as their honeymoon and proposes again. She’s a little taken aback, but eventually accepts.
