Adam, Freddie and Roy all receive pep talks on their respective circumstances and goals in life.

Radio Times: Johnny seeks out Freddie, and David lends an ear.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Roy’s confidence has taken a knock after his date with Lucy last week and Jazzer encourages him to go into tomorrow evening’s date with a positive attitude. Jazzer tries to give him a few tips, starting with his posture, how he carries himself, his outlook and overall confidence. Roy is not so sure because he thought he should just be himself, but Jazzer thinks Roy shouldn’t talk too much.
  • Johnny catches up with Freddie, who seems less than enamoured with his course. He is not impressed with his Geography tutor and hasn’t been making friends. The rest of the group call Freddie ‘Downton’, which he says doesn’t bother him, but nor does he want to hang around with them. Freddie doesn’t feel as though he belongs at college. Despite reassurances from Johnny that he will soon make friends, Freddie is doubtful because in his experience, people are only interested in his links to his dad’s death or his home. Johnny almost gives away that Elizabeth has had a word with him, but quickly covers his error with an invitation for Freddie to spend the evening with him and Tom, beer and pizza.
  • Adam has printed some leaflets for the farm walk and drops them into David. He has made a welcome escape from Kate’s panto talk and Lilian, who doesn’t seem herself. He has also got his issues with Brian. David invites Adam in for a drink and they chat over Brian’s worries about the wheat and soil. Adam wishes Brian had more faith in him – and more patience. David admires all that Adam is trialling and wishes there were more like him.
