Alan continues to have success in casting his Christmas pantomime but Lilian’s situation becomes known as the wedding invitations arrive but her family and Jolene doubt the wedding will take place.
Radio Times: Jennifer learns something shocking, and Rex finds himself out of favour
Characters: Alan, Brian, Eddie, Harrison, Jennifer, Joe, Jolene, Lilian, Rex- Eddie and Joe are cutting branches of the Tumble Tussock for grafting the apple trees. Eddie has agreed to be a dame in the panto because Nic convinced him. The Grundys aren’t happy about turkey sales but are gleeful because the Fairbrothers are doing worse with their geese. Eddie and Joe decide to reward their labours by repairing to The Bull for a pint.
- Jolene goes into Lilian’s room to show her the wedding invitation that came by post. Lilian will not admit there is a problem but Jolene is sceptical. Jolene tries to convince Lilian to stop hiding in her room. The longer she stays out of sight, the harder things will get, warns Jolene.
- Alan runs into Jennifer and Brian while buying kefir which Usha quite likes. Brian questions Harrison about his investigation into the hit and run involving Matt. Harrison can’t talk about an ongoing investigation even though Jennifer tries. Harrison asks Alan how the panto casting is coming along. Alan is positive about his progress, even Neil has agreed to pitch in but the three leads are still open. Alan seizes the opportunity to plead with Harrison to play Prince Florian.
- Eddie and Joe see Rex delivering a gin with his goose. They are outraged but Rex points out that the Grundys give cider with their turkeys. Eddie and Joe continue to grumble about Rex while discussing the perils of producing a perfect cider. Perhaps Emma could do something about Rex and his gin, muses Joe. Eddie and Joe agree that the perpetrator of the car crime must be Justin Elliott. Lilian overhears them and flies at both Grundys, outraged at their slander of Justin. Jennifer intervenes and pulls Lilian out. Poor Alan comes across the sisters and tries to convince them to take part in the panto but Jennifer sends him off with a decisive no. Jennifer then turns to Lilian and tells her that she is coming back to stay with Jennifer.
- Harrison tells Jolene he was convinced by Alan to play the part of the prince. Not only that but he signed up Fallon as well without asking first. She was livid when he told her. Jolene reminds him that it’s only a panto, there are worse things. Harrison worries about Christine and the lack of progress on the crime against Matt. Jolene tackles Rex for giving away Scruff gin without asking her. Rex explains the geese business is way down because he has been going up to Glasgow to support Anisha. This has hurt his taxi business as well because he can’t put in the hours. Jolene relents and tells Rex to come in and have a drink on the house.
- Lilian tells Jenny the whole story but when Brian comes back, Lilian goes up to her room. Brian asks if Lilian betrayed Justin with Matt but Jennifer says she doesn’t think so although it was close. Jennifer doesn’t understand how Lilian could let everything get so out of hand. Brian notes Lilian has form and he tells Jennifer about Lilian’s affair with Matt’s half-brother. Jennifer is aghast and when Brian notices the wedding invitation, he asks if that is still going ahead. Lilian claims it is, sighs Jennifer, but I don’t see how that is possible.
