Alan’s Stag Party goes with a swing.
Radio Times: Alan enjoys a last night of freedom.
Characters: Alan, Alice, Brenda, David, Hayley, Neil, Usha- While babysitting Abbie, so that Hayley can go to Marjorie’s funeral, Alice gets roped in for a hen party tonight – Brenda’s school-friend won’t mind one more. For different reasons, all three will refrain from drinking.
- David explains his plans to Neil for calving the dairy herd outside. In the process he tries to put in a good word for Ed; Neil admits that he seems very good with George. However, the business of the day is Alan’s stag night.
- So Alice has to be kitted out from Phoebe’s dressing up box – tutu, angel wings, fluffy halo. Brenda insists on the details of why Alice is bent on staying sober – it’s so as not to repeat last week’s episode with Christopher Carter who, she has to admit, has been a perfect gentleman.
- After the funeral, Alan reports some good news from Amy: she thinks that Mabel, though not changing her views, might ease up a bit – maybe even come to the wedding.
- It’s Alice’s first hen night and the initial drinks are at the same place as Alan’s stag night – all his guests are wearing dog-collars!
- The night is still young when the three girls decide that drunken people are no fun when they themselves are sober. So they gate-crash Alan’s party – a karaoke session at the Chinese restaurant where they dined earlier. Alan is enjoying himself but Neil will have a headache in the morning!
