Alistair agrees to Anisha’s gamble. Pip admits she has given her money to Toby and may not see him again.

Radio Times: Ruth makes a shocking discovery, and Jolene gets the inside story.

Characters: Alistair, Anisha, Jolene, Lilian, Pip, Ruth, Shula

• Shula visits Pip in the lambing pens but she isn’t talkative. Ruth takes over. She admits to Shula that she is worried about Pip and it must be something to do with Toby. Everyone though things were better after Jill apologised but apparently not and Ruth doesn’t like to ask.
• Lilian and Jolene have a good time at the Grey Gables spa. Lilian enjoys having someone around. She confesses to Jolene that there is a special reason for her wanting to look good. Things look as if they are getting back to normal with her and Justin. Jolene asks if she would want something more permanent rather than sneaking around but Lilian says it makes her feel young again. Lilian tells her not to get involved. Jolene says she wouldn’t after the subterfuge around Sid. Lilian doesn’t want anything more than what she had before Christmas.
• Alistair is discussing Anisha’s proposals for spending £250k. Alistair is reluctant but feels obliged. Shula says he shouldn’t be railroaded but when Anisha appears he agrees to meet her to discuss it again.
• Anisha’s next line of attack is Alistair giving discounts to customers and not chasing up late payers. One person who he’d given a discount to was taken to the surgery by her son by a BMW and others were just taking advantage by not paying. Alistair is worried about losing good will but Anisha says it would be a gamble. That seems to persuade him…. He’ll talk to the bank about extending the overdraft.
• Ruth visits Pip in the lambing shed to see the first new lambs. It always cheers Ruth up with the thought of spring. Then she finds Pip in tears. She admits that it is because Toby has disappeared to Brighton again and isn’t answering her calls. He shouldn’t do this to her. They hadn’t had a row or anything. This is the third time he’s done it and he isn’t being straight with her. She thought they had a future and she admits that she gave the profit from the cows to him. She doesn’t want anyone to know – especially David. Ruth agrees. Pip still loves him but she doesn’t think she wants to see him again. What if Jill was right about him all along? Maybe Toby has just been using her.
